Inspiration

Our inspiration comes from RPGs games that teach you valuable lessons for life and the growing need of developing soft skills on your own in order to not only have better oportunities, but also learning to interact better with other people and building good habits.

What it does

The project is a small interactive game that help players get a hold of the 3 important soft skills: effective communication, organisation and emotional intelligence. Players will explore 3 different scenarios that will prove

How we built it

We built the project looking to create a technological resource for students to develop soft skills without an internet access.

As a first step, the team decided on which soft skills to work, based on the skills that the team considered were more important to develop in the current and post-pandemic world. We ended up choosing: effective communication, organisation and emotional intelligence. Once we had that figured out, we had several brainstorming sessions to define the theme of our project, and after several scratched out ideas we all decided on an interactive game to develop soft skills in an interactive and funny game. Later on, we designed the game based on the situations we wanted to explore, including the style, the players and the whole dynamics of the game. With all of this built up, we designed our Wireframe, where we showed a specific display of all the game's scenarios. Next, we started the developing phase, which took the longest. We divided the work into the members of the team and solved problems together, until we had the different scenarios built up. We then joined our worked together as a team and worked out minor style and running issues.

When we were satisfied with the result of our project, we wrote a script for our Elevator Pitch, which we then recorded together, to show the importance of Pandora's Box game.

Challenges we ran into

Upon the building of our project we ran into some challenges. The first one being the long process of brainstorming, where we found it hard to land ideas that everyone was comfortable with, and that everyone thought would be relevant for the actual world situation. Next, came the long hours of programming and developing, where we ran into normal issues that we could solve as a team. It was also difficult to transfer our ideas from an isolated thought into an all working project. Finally, working on this type of projects remotely is always a challenge, due to the communication barriers virtual mediums tend to have.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

This past couple weeks helped us realized what we are truly capable of. We developed an entire video game remotely, while still working on our college assignments. We know the passion we feel towards STEM projects and education truly made us push our selfs forward to make this game a reality. Therefore, we feel proud of our team work and effort and our resilience to overcome difficulties.

What we learned

We believe this project truly taught us the importance of administrating time, team work and working under pressure.

What's next for Pandora's Box

We hope to add new games and develop the story of Ajolotito more!
