Inspiration
Everyone has been having a difficult time with the Covid-19 Pandemic. People spreading false statistics and information as well as information on vaccine availability and the confusion around how/where to book vaccines has caused unnecessary confusion and anxiety.
We thought it would make life a lot easier if there was an app that you could go to for confirmed/official information on Covid.
What it does
The app would allow people to see what vaccine availabilities there are in their area, what clinics are nearest, and would direct you to the site to either book an appointment or to let you know if the clinic has a walk in option.
Add-ons We also considered what other features people would appreciate and came up with - a community section where people could share their stories on how the pandemic has affected their lives, post tips and/or share their story and read others stories in general.
Mental health resources- there is a section shows you all the mental health resources available with links directing you to them.
Message centre - talk to other people
Donations- you can donate to a charity of your choice through the app.
How we built it
Figma Used a template and video tutorials and workshops to see how app designs were made since we were only really introduced to Figma through the hackathon.
Looked up colour pallets and more information on what makes a good app design.
Started by playing around with Figma and then creating backgrounds, setting up what an iPhone screen looks like, brainstormed app design and started building :). Figma made it super easy and Figma community was really helpful and gave us so many good ideas to add to our brainstorming session.
UiPath Apps Add pages for each feature of the app and include a list of controls in each page to display the basic layout, the information, ask for user inputs and to navigate from one page to another.
Challenges we ran into
Both Figma and UiPath Apps were new to us so learning how to use these platforms was a major challenge in the beginning. Our team is also on different time zones so coordinating meetings and actually figuring out how we were going to split the work and get things done was another issue.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are so proud of our coordination. We all get along really well and despite the challenges we faced we are really proud of the app design/prototype that we have built especially since this is our first hackathon!
What we learned
When everyone brings their specific strengths to the table we can all create something amazing together!!
What's next for PandeGuide
We’ll look at turning our ideas into an actual app! We still have so much to learn, but we are all really proud of our prototype and from what we know and from what we can learn we’re sure we can get PandeGuide up and running in no time!
