PalsPost - Your Virtual Pet

Inspiration

As college students, sometimes it is hard for us to get in the morning due to a lack of motivation. We have created an app that allows you to interact with a virtual pet.

What it does

We have created a code that sends you a good morning message and advice of the day from a virtual pet. You are then able to interact with the pet using Twilio chatbot., then you are able to feed, pet, and play with your virtual pet and it will respond with a message and gif from Giphy

How we built it

We used python for scheduling the morning messages after that once the user decided to interact with the people, the code changes to be from Twilio Studio

Challenges we ran into

For the entire time, this was our first hackathon combined with each member having to learn python and setting up python on our personal computers.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We have gained a lot of knowledge from these challenges and hope we can improve on them in the future.

What we learned

We had to learn Twilio Studio and its APIs during the project as well as use Python for the first time and implement several libraries.

What's next for PalsPost - Your Virtual Pet

We want to make it more interactive by adding more options such as bathtime or sleep. We also want to add more options for pets rather than just a dog.
