Inspiration
A friend of ours drive to ten different restaurants due to another friend not being able to decide what to eat. They ended up going back and not knowing what to cook either or how they would go about it.
What it does
The App Palette allows the user to search for a specific food item and pulls a recipe from an API that will list ingredients and directions in order to create a wonder meal.
How we built it
We used Xamarin as the framework for our App, coding all the functional parts in C#. The front-end was created all in xaml. The Recipe_by_API_Ninjas API was used, and functioned through an http client.
Challenges we ran into
First, the usage of a Menu API was attempted, however we were unable to get it to function correctly. Also using GitHub and xaml for the first time proved quite an arduous task.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Getting GitHub to work properly and being able xaml at a reasonable level.
What we learned
GitHub, xaml, using APIs,
What's next for Palette
Palette could be improved upon by having the App recommend other food recipes that the user might find tasty based on previous search preferences. Users could be able to favorite recipes that they enjoy and have ease of access to.
