Inspiration

Many students rent rooms with no written agreement. The rules live in what the landlord said aloud. When the deposit comes up at move out there is nothing to point to.

What it does

Pakka is a local evidence binder for one rented room.

Terms Log. Record what the landlord told you with the date. Example: deposit returns in 7 days and notice is one month.

Confirm Message. One tap opens WhatsApp with a short text that restates those terms. Send it and a written record exists.

Room Photos. Each photo gets a date and a SHA-256 fingerprint of the original file. This shows the file has not changed since you added it. It is an integrity note and not legal proof.

Payments. Add rent and deposit proofs to the same timeline.

Notice Countdown. Shows the last day to give notice based on the terms you logged.

Move Out Pack. One printable page with your timeline and fingerprints. It includes a polite deposit refund request built from your own entries.

Privacy

There is no account and no server. Data stays in IndexedDB on your device. You can lock it with a passphrase using AES-GCM in the browser. There are no analytics and no cookies. You can export or delete everything at any time. Privacy Policy and Terms pages are in the app.

How I built it

I ran the Devpost Learn Skill Pack in my coding agent. The skills interviewed me and produced scope.md, prd.md and spec.md before any code was written. I then built from the spec with plain HTML, CSS and JavaScript.

Challenges

Keeping the app honest was the hard part. The fingerprint matches the original photo and not the smaller copy the app stores. I worded the app and the pack to say that plainly. A passphrase cannot be recovered so I added a clear warning and an export option.

What I learned

Planning first keeps the build small. A short spec stopped me from adding features I could not finish. I also learned to keep claims modest when a tool touches a legal topic.
