⇒ Situation: Fifty per cent of people need a blood transfusion in their life. A functional blood transfusion service is one of the essential pillars of health care. According to WHO, there are close to 600 blood banks in Pakistan, but they are working independently without uniformity, quality standard or regulations. Thus it increases risk of transmitting infectious diseases, including HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis B/C. According to a study, blood transfusion is one of the leading risk factor to spread infectious disease (Mumtaz et al., 2010, Attaullah et al., 2012). In Pakistan there is no systematic approach for processing the population with safe blood transfusion yet.
⇒ PakBlood software: We are working on software, named PakBlood, which will allow to put in contact safe blood banks with every hospital. Our software will have to kind of users.
- Safe blood bank: they will implement database with blood samples they have
- Hospital: they will use this software to know where, nearest, required safe blood type is available
⇒ Marketing Plan:
- We will provide this software for free to safe blood banks. It will help their blood management and it will help us to keep an update of donors.
- This software will be sold to hospitals. Thus they will have a systematic approach to find controlled blood around and increase their reputation.
