Inspiration
We got the idea for building Paisafy on noticing that mobile phone penetration in India is excellent, but smartphone and internet penetration in rural areas is poor. We built Paisafy on the idea of building a service for all classes of users, from urban, enterprise users with smartphones and computers to feature phone users with voice connectivity.
What it does
It provides all-inclusive financial services to users with the help of an easy to use interface on smartphones and a voice based bot that can converse in regional languages for feature phones, including checking account balance, transactions, credit, intelligent expense management and unique voice-based authentication.
How we built it
We built it using Apache Cordova and angular.js on the front-end, and a flask based webhook on the back-end. We used Twilio to integrate the bot with SMS services, and used Azure to perform tasks like speaker recognition and emotion recognition, and expense management.
Challenges we ran into
All of us were relatively inexperienced with angularjs and ran into technical snags on the way, but managed to finish in time.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We won the India-UK Tech Summit Hackathon and gained appreciation from the judges as well as potential investors.
What we learned
Use of web technologies like angularjs for making native mobile apps, how to present well at hackathons, and essential teamwork skills
What's next for Paisafy
We are working on deploying Paisafy technology as a startup.
