Inspiration

My inspiration came from MS Paint, the classic tool many of us used to doodle ridiculous creations. I wanted to recreate that nostalgic, simple, and chaotic experience — but for memes. The idea was to build an “MS Paint of meme makers” where anyone could jump in and start creating dank memes instantly.

What it does

PaintMyMeme is a chaotic yet easy-to-use meme generator that lets users create memes by dragging, dropping, and editing meme stickers and text. It combines classic meme templates, random stickers, and modern UI tools for maximum fun.

How we built it

The app was built in one intense shot: I crafted a detailed prompt describing every feature, layout, and UI element I wanted. Using Bolt’s generative capabilities, I created a fully interactive meme generator interface complete with stickers, text editing, layers, and randomization — all on the first try.

Challenges we ran into

• The one-prompt approach was limiting: once generated, making significant edits without starting over was difficult.
• Managing sticker placement and layering dynamically in the generated UI posed unique challenges.
• Balancing simplicity with functionality: keeping the vibe of MS Paint while adding modern meme-making features required careful thought.
