Inspiration
Explore Image generator- I wanted to come up with an idea that made use of the image generator widget in PartyRock.
What it does
It takes 5 words as input, along with a suitable genre - could be comedy, horror, horror-comedy, romantic, suspense etc., and the target audience - which could be your friends, spouse, kids etc. The app will then generate a story based on the user input.
How we built it
I only used PartyRock AI.
Challenges we ran into
The biggest challenge was to get a relevant image. I tried a few different prompts, tried to frame different sentences, different ways to explain what I want, tried different options under “Style preset”, and played with the Advanced settings as well. It did improve overtime, but I think it can be better. Another thing that I tried to do was to update the story based on user suggestion. I tried to provide an option for user to provide feedback about the story and propose any changes. The “Story time!” widget would then re-generate the story and update it based on user suggestion. However, it did not work as I had expected. My understanding is that it all depends on how accurately you describe what you need to the AI, but at the same time may be it is not wrong to acknowledge that AI also has its own limitations. More exposure and training, on both sides, will definitely help.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Registering for this hackathon - I pushed myself to just give it a try, and I am happy that I did. This is one of the many apps that I generated on PartyRock. And it’s the most creative one, that is close to an acceptable working state. I was proud and overwhelmed and happy when the app generated the first story, and it was not that bad. I just browsed around the room to come up with random words- Alexa, multivitamin tablets, tissue paper box etc, and I got some great stories out of it. It was fun developing and interacting with this app. Also, I created my very first video and uploaded it on YouTube. I am on YouTube a lot, but never in a million years would I have thought of watching my own video on YouTube. Its just great!!
What we learned
I learned the names of different AI models. Previously, I only knew about ChatGPT. I also learned the importance of the prompts that you give to AI. What you write and how you write is very important. Also, testing the app a bunch of times is very helpful. The more you test, the more you recognize the bugs/shortcomings of the app, and you can use this information to make the app better. And sometimes, when trying/testing the app, you can also realize - oh this is missing, oh, it would be good if it can do this as well - these realizations also help improve the app.
What's next for Story Time!
Maybe, I will try to overcome the challenges I listed above, give some more time and see If I can make it better.
