Inspiration
With Jake W. having prior knowledge in the field of Physical Therapy, we knew that creating a digital project with PT components could both be applicable to us and useful in helping others. Our group also had aspirations of learning front-end development, and this was a perfect opportunity.
What it does
Pain Point Precision was designed to provide an easy-to-use, accessible medical service that allows the client to select the muscle causing them discomfort from an interactive 3-D Model of the Human Muscular System. Then after entering a description of their feeling, a prompt of possible PT routines tailored to the specific muscle along with YouTube tutorials are relayed to the user.
How we built it
We built our application using front-end development with Vue and several API components: 3-D Muscular System, OpenAI, and YouTube.
Challenges we ran into
Operating on and manipulating values of selected muscles in the 3-D Diagram proved challenging in our beginning stages of development. As our group had little to no experience with Vue, building an application using this resource was tough as we essentially learned on the fly. Lastly, having the application host on non-local machines was tricky.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
In the end, we were able to accomplish most of what we set out to do. We were able to find solutions to the above-mentioned challenges, learn about implementation of Vue and other web-development procedures, and resolve our program in a state we were confident in.
What we learned
We learned much about APIs and receiving information from them in conjunction with Vue.
What's next for Pain Point Precision
Possible next steps for our project are the development of a mobile application which would make the app as accessible as ever. Furthermore, the inclusion of a female body model and prompting nearby medical specialists for professional consultation are also a part of our future ventures.
