I’ve always been fascinated by how much food gets wasted at home. One day, I looked at my own pantry and realized I had ingredients sitting there for weeks, while I kept wondering what to cook. That frustration sparked the idea: what if there was a smart assistant that could help people make sense of their pantry, suggest meals, and actually make cooking enjoyable?

Building Pantry AI was a wild ride. At first, I thought it would be as simple as scanning items and suggesting recipes, but it quickly became clear there was so much more. I had to figure out how to recognize ingredients, handle different user preferences, and even consider skill levels because cooking shouldn’t feel intimidating.

The learning curve was steep. I dived into AI and computer vision, experimented with recipe generation, and learned how to design a system that’s genuinely useful rather than just flashy. One of the biggest challenges was making sure the AI didn’t suggest impossible recipes or ignore what people actually had. Another was balancing simplicity and functionality in the user experience. it had to feel effortless, not like another complicated app.

In the end, Pantry AI became more than just a project it was a glimpse into how technology can make everyday life a little easier, a little smarter, and a lot less wasteful.
