Inspiration

The inspiration for PagePals stemmed from the growing need for affordable and accessible study materials among students, especially those facing time and financial constraints. Many students struggle to purchase expensive textbooks or face delays in getting them when they need them the most. At the same time, countless books, including storybooks, sit unused on shelves, collecting dust. PagePals was born from the idea of creating a solution that not only helps students access the resources they need at a lower cost but also allows individuals to share their books—whether textbooks or storybooks—and earn extra income. By connecting book lenders and borrowers, PagePals aims to foster a supportive community where learning and reading are made easier, more affordable, and sustainable for everyone involved.

What it does

PagePals is an innovative platform that allows users to lend and borrow books online, making both academic and recreational reading materials more accessible. Users can publish their books on the platform, whether they are textbooks or storybooks, and offer them for rent. Borrowers, in turn, can search for books they need, paying the full price of the book as a security deposit upfront. Afterward, they are charged a nominal fee of Rs. 15 per day for the duration they borrow the book. This model ensures that books are available for those who need them while providing a way for book owners to earn extra income from their unused books. PagePals serves as a bridge between those who want to access books and those who wish to share them, benefiting both students and book lovers alike.

What's next for PagePals

For PagePals, I will be publishing the platform on a custom .xyz domain to enhance its accessibility and make it more robust. This will provide a unique and memorable online presence. Additionally, I plan to expand the platform by making it multi-user, allowing more individuals to lend and borrow books seamlessly. To improve user experience, I will focus on making the platform more user-friendly by enhancing its UI and streamlining its features. Along with these improvements, I will also work on upgrading the API to ensure smoother integration and functionality. These updates will make PagePals a more efficient and enjoyable platform for both borrowers and lenders.
