Inspiration
We all have those moments when we need a little help with everyday tasks, whether it's picking up something from a nearby shop, delivering an item, or getting a small job done. At the same time, there are people around us who are willing to help and earn a little extra.
This made us think: What if we could connect these people within the same neighbourhood? That's how the idea of Padosi Pro came to life. We wanted to build something that makes helping each other easier while creating small earning opportunities.
What it does
Padosi Pro is a hyperlocal task-sharing platform that brings neighbours together within a 1.5 km radius.
Users can post small everyday tasks, and people nearby can accept them, complete the work, and earn money.
Some of its key features include:
- Post everyday tasks with suggested fair pricing.
- Discover and accept tasks from people nearby.
- View complete task details, including pickup and drop-off locations.
- Make secure payments through UPI, cards, or RuPay.
- Keep payments in escrow until the task is completed.
- Use a 4-digit PIN to verify successful task handoffs.
- Get notifications about nearby tasks and offers.
- Track earnings, badges, and overall performance.
Our main goal is to make getting help and earning money as simple as having a conversation with someone in your neighbourhood.
How we built it
We wanted Padosi Pro to be simple enough for anyone to use, even someone who isn't very comfortable with technology.
We focused on creating a smooth experience, starting from email and OTP login to discovering nearby tasks, accepting work, and tracking earnings.
We also worked on features like location-based task discovery, secure payments, and PIN-based verification to make the platform more reliable.
Another thing we kept in mind was accessibility. We wanted users to be able to access the platform easily from their mobile devices, including through the Add to Home Screen option.
Challenges we ran into
Building Padosi Pro came with its own set of challenges.
One of the biggest things we had to think about was trust. When strangers from the same neighbourhood connect to complete tasks, both sides need to feel safe and comfortable.
We also had to think about how to:
- Show only relevant tasks within a nearby 1.5 km radius.
- Make payments secure and reliable.
- Prevent confusion during task handoffs using PIN verification.
- Keep the process of posting and accepting tasks simple.
- Make the experience smooth across different mobile devices.
Working through these challenges helped us think beyond just building features and focus more on the actual people who would use our platform.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
What makes us happy about Padosi Pro is that it started with a simple everyday problem and turned into something that could genuinely help people.
We are especially proud of:
- Connecting people through a hyperlocal task-sharing system.
- Making it easier to find and complete nearby tasks.
- Introducing fair-price suggestions.
- Adding escrow-based payments for better trust.
- Implementing PIN-based task completion verification.
- Creating an earnings dashboard with badges and performance tracking.
- Building a mobile-friendly experience.
For us, the biggest achievement is turning a simple idea of neighbours helping neighbours into a practical digital solution.
What we learned
This project taught us that building an application is not just about writing code or adding features. It's about understanding real problems and finding simple ways to solve them.
We learned a lot about user experience, location-based services, payment security, and building trust between people.
Most importantly, we realised that technology doesn't always need to solve huge problems. Sometimes, making everyday life a little easier for the people around us is meaningful enough.
