Inspiration

I drew inspiration from the everyday challenges people face. So, before creating the app, I read a lot of articles to try to find the most common problems that people face when travelling that technology can solve, and I even conducted a survey to test the idea and see if it was viable and something people would be interested in.

What it does

It is essentially a smart packing app with a lot of other built-in features, but essentially the user answers some questions about where they are going, who they are going with, and the activities they will be doing, and the app generates a comprehensive list for the user based on that and other variables like the weather. It also suggests additional items the user could add based on other people's lists who have visited that location. Furthermore, once you've finished packing and weighing, you can enter the weight into the app, and it will tell you whether you're overweight based on the airline, location, and class, as well as suggest some items to remove. The app also provides reminders to make sure you never forget anything at home or the hotel.

How I built it

I created the app concept in Canva.

Challenges I ran into

I had difficulty designing the app concept because I had never designed an app or used Canva before, so it was definitely a learning experience for me. The time constraint also made it difficult because I had a lot of ideas but had to narrow them down based on the survey I conducted and focus on its main features.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

I'm honestly very proud of myself for just finishing the project. It was my first time doing something like this, and I honestly didn't think I'd be able to do it, but I'm glad I did because I learned a lot and had a great time doing it.

What I learned

I learned a variety of skills but in particular how to design an app. I think it's amazing that you don't even have to know how to code to present your idea using Canva or other software.
