Inspiration
We all love to travel and we hate it when we forget to bring the things we need. For example, a toothbrush. For sure you don't want to share your toothbrush with your uncle, am I right? So we thought of designing this App, PackMe. With PackMe, you wouldn't have to worry about packing your stuff when you travel!
What it does
Unlike any other existing packing app, PackMe has it all. Don’t like making lists? PackMe not only makes it easy for you to make a packing list but also recommends what suits you best based on your travel destination. Being forgetful? You can set reminders to make sure you’ve got everything in your suitcase. Didn’t expect the rainy weather? Weather forecasts are provided so you would know if you need an umbrella! Also, we want to make sure that you’re not missing out and be included in a community of other travel junkies where you can share tips, reviews, and maybe discounts on your next travel.
How we built it
It all started with brainstorming. We had to vote on which idea was the most feasible. And so PickMe was chosen. We made sure that we listened to what people were struggling with packing. So we conducted surveys link interviews link Competitor Analysis link And some secondary searches too for targets. Then we plotted everything in the Affinity Diagram. With all the data we've got, it was easier to work on our user flows, wireframes, and prototypes.
Challenges we ran into
Our main challenge is doing everything in 2 days and doing it together. Since we live in different time zones, we had to wait for each other's responses on what to do next. And sacrifice our bedtime too.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We accomplished forming a team before the designation started. We also got a head start that we won't have to end up scratching our heads. All of us get to connect to widen our network. And all of us are enjoying this designation because we wouldn't put so much effort into this if it felt like doing our day-to-day job.
What we learned
To some of us on the team who are not in the UX industry yet, it's a learning experience because we learn how other UX designers work, how they figure things out, and how they lead a team without knowing their backgrounds. And to some of us who are already in the UX industry, we do what we can as if we're in survival mode.
What's next for PackMe
PackMe has a long way to go. We can integrate the use of AI to solve better user problems, help the travel industry in marketing their businesses, and make people more engaged when traveling.
