The Story Behind PackAI

The idea behind PackAI — AI-Powered Intelligent Food Packaging Recommendation System came from a simple but important problem: why do food products spoil even when they are properly packed?

Different food products have different packaging requirements. For example, fruits and vegetables need appropriate ventilation because they continue to respire after harvesting, while oily foods may require packaging with better oxygen and moisture barriers. However, choosing the wrong packaging can reduce shelf life, increase food waste, and lead to unnecessary costs.

To address this problem, we developed PackAI, an intelligent system that analyzes food characteristics and storage conditions, such as moisture content, pH, respiration rate, temperature, humidity, and desired shelf life.

Based on these inputs, the system recommends suitable packaging materials and provides important specifications to help users select appropriate packaging. It also considers sustainable materials, cost optimization, and modified atmosphere packaging where applicable.

Our vision is to make packaging selection smarter, more accessible, and more sustainable for food businesses, manufacturers, and other users.

Ultimately, PackAI aims to reduce avoidable food waste, improve packaging decisions, and support a more sustainable food supply chain.
