Inspiration

I was having trouble finding something to do after my initial idea fell through. Nobody from my planned group showed up. Luckily, a group near me happened to be from the same school as I working on a unity project. Unfortunately they didn't need a 5th person so I decided to use the hackathon to learn c#, unity, and see how far I can make it with a first attempt.

What it does

SOUNDS ADDED AFTER VIDEO WAS TAKEN. Its a simple unity game that is inspired by japanese pachinko machines. A marble is launched and fall through a random placement of pegs that give a sense of randomization. The user can tilt the playing field to help nudge the marble as it makes its way to the bottom. Depending on where it lands, points are assigned.

How I built it

I downloaded unity and looked up tutorials. The algorithm used to place the random pegs make sure there is always a certain gap enough for the marble to slip through. Some trig was used to calculate the camera positions as well. The sound effects were hand made recorded from laptop microphone and edited on audacity.

Challenges I ran into

Everything was a challenge as I have never done unity before. The lack of text tutorials are also of not help. I forgot to bring headphones to listen to the video tutorials from unity.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

It actually works! It actually looks decent. It actually uses a decent amount of math. It actually works! It actually works!

What I learned

Basic unity. Basic C#.

What's next for pachinko machine sort of because my group didn't show

Textures, hopefully. Maybe even a title screen.
