What is PaaS CI/CD?

A one separate time Developers and System Administrators had a some problems. Developer writes code, hosts all codebase locally have a problem library and integration and struggles to push project change and struggles with tagging and versioning project and everytime conflicts with System Administrators.

And system administrator's difficulties to constant OS installation, cluster settings or application server config difficulties and network settings and services and various config problems.

What it does

To prevent this some problems I developed PaaS CI/CD. PaaS CI/CD is very simple and I written in Golang and in background uses Docker and has a REST Interface. PaaS solve to planned that developer will develop in software with CI/CD processes and push code to registry (repos) quickly and use REST requests and UP the server quickly.

On other hand, System Administrators usually prepares needed SQL, Proxy, Application Server or other software in YAML format and keeps them in repository. The developer use web interface with a few clicks submits his requests over web and his server is ready with simple curl call.

How we built it

First get source codes on GitHub and at the same time, should make sure that have installed LXC and Docker services and that you are also running a registry service in Docker.

All you have to do is:

go run server.go

REST Endpoints will be ready for all services Repository connection will be provided

Challenges we ran into

We had problems creating automation scripts for some Linux installations because Docker and YAML formats were constantly changing. We have also reconfigured some network settings details as well as made improvements to service monitoring and e-mail communication and finally! we solved the concurrency problem by using go routine.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I didnt use any additional library and we have no worries about security. I have excellent reporting tools and works perfectly on very small hardware and system requirements and suitable for IoT. We have tested ARM Rasperry and FPGA.

What we learned

I have very well learned CI/CD processes, Agile manifesto and its importance in software project. We have learned in real terms difficulties experienced by software developers and system administrators and have experience in automation and 0-down time next-generation tech.
