Inspiration
- The ongoing developments in green energy sector has led to increase in Solar Panel sales across India and other countries as well.
- But a lot of times, panels also produce more than the required energy for a home.
- We allowed users to sell this energy using a peer to peer connection on blockchain.
- Hence, no middlewares, no government, just you and the buyer!
What it does
- P2P Solar is a software solution for peer to peer network connection of indviduals.
- Producer in this connection is one who is producing extra Solar energy from its Solar Panel Setup and Consumer is one who is going to use this extra energy.
- This Energy amount can be sold by the producer to the consumer.
How we built it
Phase1: We first created a basic structure of Frontend to bring our ideas to the life. Phase2: after careful considerations of tech we should use, We decided to go with smart contracts along with Hedera's api and SDKs to handle the backend part. Phase3: Integration of Blockchain code with the FrontEnd.
Challenges we ran into
The biggest challenge we had was time. We wanted to use a stream of tokens in our app which was new to the our tech portfolio, and understanding the concept took quite some time to work upon.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We have successfully designed a very good UI along with the blockchain functionalities, a functional implementation of our idea has flourished quite well and given the time, we are really proud that we could make such an app as our first project with this team. We are ready to learn more and take more challenges now onwards!
What we learned
We could learn in all areas of our individual domains of work : FrontEnd - Fast and functional design implementations in short amount of time Blockchain - As mentioned previously, stream of tokens and Hedera itself was quite a learning. It's also inspiring to see how Hedera is able to make an eco-friendly blockchain network using PROOF OF STAKE
What's next for P2P Solar Transfer
Future could be bright as sun for P2PSolar. Although, due to the shortage of time, we could just focus on the software part of our application, but using IOT and sensors to calculate net produced solar energy, we can enhance the overall use-case of our application exponentially!
