Inspiration

Overthinking is one of the biggest invisible productivity killers. We noticed that while AI tools are great at providing information, they often make the problem worse by adding more analysis. Students, developers, and founders don’t usually lack information — they lack decisive action. That insight inspired us to build MindShift AI, a tool designed not to think more, but to help users stop thinking and start doing.

What it does

It is an action-trigger chatbot that detects analysis paralysis in real time and interrupts it. It analyzes user input to identify hesitation, repetition, and “what-if” spirals. Once overthinking is detected, the AI switches behavior and forces a clear decision or assigns a small, immediate action. It also temporarily locks decisions to prevent second-guessing.

How we built it

We built it from scratch using Gemini :

Gemini handles natural language understanding, reasoning, and dynamic behavior switching (helper → commander).

Challenges we ran into

We ran difficulties while integrating APIs.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Built a fully working Gemini system entirely during the hackathon Implemented real-time overthinking detection using embeddings and vector similarity Created a clean, professional UI suitable for real user

What we learned

More AI output doesn’t always mean better results Designing constraints can make AI systems more effective than open-ended assistants

What's next for OverthinkLess AI – A Smart Action-Trigger Chatbot

Add personalization based on user behavior history

Introduce team mode for collaborative decision-making

Integrate calendar and task management tools
