Overseer

Inspiration

We are browsing the SDG Goals and brainstorming for project ideas. We have read about the loss of forests and how it impacts the world. So we are inspired by this and wish to put some effort into monitoring the forests and preventing unauthorised deforestation.

What it does

Our project is aimed at the Australian government to monitor the forest so that any criminal actions can be detected. The team at DataSolvers are proposing a new method of detecting forest changes that utilises a Convolutional Neural Network with supervised learning to ensure illegal activity detection.

How we built it

Since the project would need more than 24 hours to finish (the supervised training at stage 1 would take days), we decide to build a prototype using Figma for now. We draft our prototype from scratch using Figma and inVision.

Challenges we ran into

Since no one in our team has a background in designing, we found it took longer than expected to find appropriate elements for even colour when drawing our prototype.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are so proud of our project ideas. We did some research online, but could not find anything that is similar to what we aimed for. The forest monitoring is critical for protecting the earth.

We proudly presented you with a complete video for introducing our project, in the video we covered the problem we faced, the solution we have, the methodology for the solution, the description of our prototype, and the possible future development for this project.

What we learned

SDG Goal is a long run and we should always keep in mind. This project makes us care more about our planet and the people who live on it.

What's next for Overseer

We will keep the implementation of the project. We value this idea and we will keep it as out side project. We will enrich it if we have more resources/data.
