Inspiration

Our inspiration mainly stems from real stories told by our interviewees. These stories helped as see challenges experienced by them that we never imagined.

What it does

Our project enhances the current LifeSG app with a new feature, Overseas Support, to empower Singaporeans living overseas.

Quick emergency reporting to the Singapore embassy in the foreign country.
Contain useful resources for emergency situations.
Provide Wi-Fi calls to the local embassy during office hours through the internet.

Challenges we ran into

The scope of the problem was wide and we needed to decide on an issue that was critical yet simple to be solved in 48 hours. With only 3 interviewees, we are unsure whether the opinions were representative of all Singaporeans living overseas. We also had to come up with a sustainable solution because we truly want our solution to benefit Singaporeans in the future.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud to come up with a solution to a problem faced by multiple Singaporeans, hopefully make lives better in the future.

What we learned

The process of listening and empathy is extremely important when tackling a challenge that you have never experienced before.

What's next for Overseas Support

We believe that support is not just technological, it involves the human touch. With a support staff on the other end of the line to handle more dynamic cases, users would definitely feel more assured.
