Inspiration

All of our group members love buying products overseas, as there are much more options for us to choose from. However, we were forced to think twice before purchasing because the fees charged for overseas shipping are usually extremely expensive. Therefore, we came up with this solution hoping to solve this particular issue, by providing a much cheaper way for buying overseas products.

What it does

A platform for freelancers to provide overseas purchasing services.

How we built it

ReactJs, Chakra-UI, Font-Awesome and Styled Elements.

Challenges we ran into

We could not manage to find a way to solve many of the problems related to overseas purchasing service provider even after a few prolonged discussions. At the end, we had no choice but to start working only on the parts we believe that we can solve.

Even though majority of us have prior experience in ReactJS, we couldn’t come to a consensus on which styling library we should use. In the end, Chakra-UI was chosen mainly as it is easily customisable to fit our Front-End design. We spent some time in order to familiarise ourselves with Chakra UI as there is only one of us within the group had experience styling with it.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Even though the majority of us have not joined a hackathon before and do not have much experience in building a website in a constraint time frame, we were still able to finish it successfully. We were also able to communicate and work well with each other throughout the whole hackathon.

What we learned

The major thing we learnt from the project is working together in a constraint time frame. It challenged our time management and communication skills as well as training us to take quick and decisive actions. Throughout the hackathon, we enjoyed exchanging ideas and expertise towards building the project prototype.

What's next for OverSales

Our team aims to bring OverSales to the global market so that more people can benefit from such a convenience. We would like the people around us to be able to enjoy quality goods at a reasonable price point. A large user base will be crucial in order for our app to be successful. This is because the coverage of our WebApp will be directly proportional to the number of registered active users of our app. Therefore, by promoting our WebApp to the global stage, we believe that it would essentially create such a wide array of trading routes that everyone would be able to access all the goods around the world. Currently we are in the early stage where revenue mainly comes from charging a fixed percentage of transaction fee whenever a transaction is successfully completed. In the future where the traffic on our platform continues to grow, we aim to scale our platform by accepting advertisement requests.
