We wanted to make a Rube Goldberg Machine, but didn't have the imagination, nor the stuff to do so physically. Thus, we wanted to take the simplest thing ("hello, world") and make that as complicated a possible.
We did this by using a Free Dictionary API and a SQL database in Python, and getting "hello" from the former, and "world" from the latter.
It was fun because we hadn't really explored SQL that much before and it was cool to use it with Python. [Praise be to w3schools!]
