Inspiration
cougargade.io and signing up for classes.
What it does
The goal of the app is to develop the best possible schedule that some one can have. First it determines if you have an prior credits and checks those classes as completed. Secondly it generates the best possible classes that you should take along with determining the top 3 professors you should pick for said classes. Lastly it will show a complete degree road map with data like where each class can be found, credits you will have per semester, and what classes are pre-requisites for others. There is both a web application and a phone app.
How we built it
We used nextjs for our front end and used firebase as our backend. We developed a full wix front end at first but then we realized that we couldn't connect firebase with it. So we tried our best to recreate our design in our actual front end.
Challenges we ran into
Initial challenges that the team ran into would definitely be, being to passionate about many different projects and expanded ideas way beyond our current capabilities. Other than that our team lacked a lot of experience with many of the tools like git, firebase, and react.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
A lot of good ideas and skills that will probably be developed further outside of the event.
What we learned
The team developed their web-developing skills through increasing front end skills through react, back end skills through firebase, data manipulation, html, and css.
What's next for Overlook
Finishing our original idea and maybe even expanding to other majors or even schools.
