Inspiration
I played a lot of dodgeball as a kid and the idea to make a similar game but in 3d space was appealing the blasters in the game were inspired by MegaMan from my childhood. but it is a game I have never seen before in horizon worlds.
What it does
when you hold your trigger button it charges your orb. the more charged your orb the faster it goes. try and hit other players while avoiding their orbs. But the only way to move is by hitting your trigger again and teleporting to the location of your orb.
How we built it
it was all build in primitives in MHW and all scripted in code blocks
Challenges we ran into
setting up for mobile the game was easy to gear towards mobile but trying to get the orb to fly in the direction of the mobile crosshairs is a challenge. I have not learned typescript...YET!
Accomplishments that we're proud of
This game holds the most advance scripting I have done in horizon worlds and has taught me so much that I never knew, especially ways to troubleshoot and problem solve.
What we learned
Planning is important! I am new to the MHCP and I feel like I have had to learn everything from scratch. I could spend another month on this project but deadlines are there for a reason. Planning things out, making lists and getting feedback is always helpful!
What's next for OVERDRIVE
I want to use this world to learn blender and typescript and get this world to the highest quality! I already have plans for IWPs, Custom UIs, different game modes, and even the use of NPCs. there is a lot I have planned for this world and I think it has great potential!!
