Overboard | Love, Lies, and Cold Water

Inspiration

We liked the idea of a glossy engagement night that turns into betrayal and cold water: a boyfriend proposes to the “wrong” sister, and one push overboard changes all three lives.

What it does

Overboard | Love, Lies, and Cold Water is a short vertical drama about two sisters, a failed fairytale engagement, and a mysterious rescue. One sister is thrown from the yacht; the other stays on board.

How we built it

We mapped the story around a few clear beats: the proposal, the push, the fall into the water, the rescue, and the hospital awakening.
Characters and key locations (yacht night, open water, hospital room) were created with AI image and video tools, then edited and paced for vertical platforms in CapCut with light upscaling and AI-driven sound.

Challenges we ran into

• Showing the proposal, jealousy and betrayal clearly in very short scenes.
  
• Keeping the two sisters visually distinct and consistent across AI generations.
  
• Making the transition from yacht to hospital feel like one continuous story.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We built a compact mini-arc that moves from romance to shock to a new beginning in just a few vertical scenes.
We also shaped a visual tone that stays emotional and dramatic without needing graphic content.

What we learned

We learned that one strong turning point (the push overboard) can carry a short drama if the setup and aftermath are clear.
We also saw how powerful close-ups and small reactions are in vertical format for stories about jealousy and guilt.

Next, we want to explore what happens after the hospital: who the stranger really is, how much the “overboard” sister remembers, and whether the truth about the night on the yacht comes out.
