Inspiration
During the pandemic, we found it difficult to stay focused on our screens, so we decided to create a productivity app that helps us not get distracted. We also wanted to experiment with eye-tracking technology, so Oven was born.
What it does
The webpage prompts a user with calibration to calibrate the javascript WebGazer API, the user looks at the cursor and clicks on the dots to calibrate. After all, the dots are calibrated the user can press next, to proceed. Then the webpage prompts the user with a select slider to select the minute/pizza they will cook with their focus. When the user presses the cook button the pizza starts cooking with a timer, if the user looks away from the screen the pizza will burn, and pause the timer.
How we built it
We used HTML, CSS, and javascript to set up the web pages and their functionality. We used WebGaze for eye-tracking and the round slider library for the UI.
Challenges we ran into
Everyone in our group was new to CSS and JavaScript, so we had to learn very quickly.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Figuring out eye-tracking and the effort that went into our UI.
What we learned
Improved our HTML skills, learnt CSS and JavaScript, and how to work with the WebGaze JS library.
