Inspiration

As individuals we have found it difficult to organise events with groups of friends, whether that be planning, organising or attending the event, trying to communicate effectively can be challenging. Although instant messaging apps such as WhatsApp and Facebook enable for event organisation, it can often be clunky and important information maybe hard to find on the go. That's why we have developed Outing - to be an easy to use app for a stress free day out.

What it does

Outing is a blend between social media, messaging and event app which aims to provide a smoother and user friendly app to manage and organise events. Outing's features poll creation, group messaging, map functionality and sign up features. Its features has been designed to help ease of use and be more intuitive to use.

How we built it

Outing was built collectively with a team using: HTML, JavaScript, CSS, PHP, Python and Google APIs.

Challenges I ran into

Obstacles that we ran into: trying to get the WebApp to be dynamic, git conflicts and loads of bugs.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

Integrating a database to the back-end of the WebApp. Getting a nice and clean layout for the WebApp.

What I learned

As a team, we have learnt to work as group, being able to effectively communicate our ideas between each other. We have developed a better sense for project management, as a team we have divided our workload to help ensure that the project progress smoothly and on time. In addition, we have learnt to adapt to changes in the project when unexpected error comes up, resulting in us having to come up with different solutions to work around the obstacle.

What's next for Outing
