Inspiration

We were inspired by the daily struggle of figuring out what to wear, especially when weather conditions are unpredictable. We wanted to create a smart solution that makes dressing easier by recommending outfits based on the weather in real time.

What it does

Outfitory AI is an AI-powered stylist that suggests the best outfit for you based on your wardrobe and the current weather. By analyzing the weather conditions and using AI to recommend a stylish look, it takes the guesswork out of choosing an outfit for the day.

How we built it

We built Outfitory AI using Next.js, Typescript, and Firebase for the backend. The Gemini AI API powers the recommendations, while weather data is fetched through Open Weather API. Our frontend is responsive and user-friendly, using Tailwind CSS for a sleek design.

Challenges we ran into

We faced challenges integrating AI with real-time weather data to ensure personalized recommendations. Managing API rate limits and optimizing for a smooth user experience was tough, but we learned valuable lessons along the way.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

All of our team members are participating in a Hackathon for the first time, and being able to complete an initial idea and deploy it, we're proud of successfully implementing AI to deliver personalized outfit suggestions based on live weather data. We also take pride in the seamless integration between the backend, weather API, and AI model to create an effortless experience for users.

What we learned

We learned a lot about managing multiple API integrations, handling rate limits, and optimizing AI models for real-time user requests. It also helped us improve our collaboration, problem-solving, and full-stack development skills.

What's next for Outfitory AI

We're planning to add a feature that allows users to capture/ scan pictures of their outfits using their phones. With the help of machine learning, the app will automatically analyze the images and add detailed outfit information to the user's closet, enhancing the overall experience and making outfit management even more convenient.
