Inspiration
Since the last 12 months we all sat at home, in closed rooms. Therefore we thought that people would enjoy to be outsides (also, there is lower chance to get infected). So, we want to take the museum to the outside, directly into the city to the people.
What it does
We take the city as exhibition. The components of the city themself are the exhibition pieces. Users will explore the city, learn about the past and the future of the city from different point of views and different topics. We provide a customizable platform to define loosely guided tours by an digital assistant through the city. Different discovery points on the tour can provide information to the user. Such information can be of various types. Our focus is on communication of informatione by augmentation (augmented reality). An interface to the existing BLM-platform is thinkable and proposed.
How we built it
We have created an augmented reality app which can augment the real world with either images of the past and entirely digital models. The user can walk through the city and explore it on a completly new visual level. For this there are special points spread over the area to trigger the augmentation.
Challenges we ran into
- Getting a steady reference point to start the augmentation
- Augment the real worl as precise as possible
- the normal (AR-) development quirks...

What's next for OutdoorMuseum
Stuffing the concept with more substantial content. Doing a more complex prototype than our actual prototype.
