Inspiration

As music educators and songwriters, my wife and I have faced countless roadblocks in how artists get paid and recognized for their work. The system is outdated, opaque, and favors intermediaries over creators. OurOneSong was born out of a desire to revolutionize this landscape. It’s a first step toward a future where copyright ownership is blockchain-encrypted, royalties are paid via smart contracts, and distribution lives on Web3 rails—a world where artists are finally empowered, and fans are invited into the creative process.

What it does

OurOneSong enables artists to launch collaborative songwriting sessions in a gamified, interactive format—think Kahoot or Mentimeter but for music creation. Participants can submit lyrics, melodies, or ideas and vote on the best ones in real time. Ownership credits are then automatically assigned based on verified contribution levels.

Within the Bolt platform, we’ve built:

• Login and authentication flows
  
• User and session databases
  
• A beautifully designed front-end interface ready for action
  

How we built it

We built everything using BOLT—with zero prior coding experience. The no-code tools allowed us to turn an ambitious vision into a working prototype rapidly.

Challenges we ran into

Although the frontend is functional and the databases are in place, we ran into deployment issues that kept us from launching the live app within the hackathon timeframe.

• I learned that I’m absolutely capable of building products that can create real impact
  

Even without a deployed app, this hackathon has been a launchpad. The dream is alive, and the foundation is solid.
