Inspiration
In today’s fast-paced world, even the most driven students struggle to remember every important detail—whether it’s an idea shared in a conversation, a task mentioned in passing, or a chore that slips through the cracks. Studies show we forget an average of four key things per day, and that number only grows as our responsibilities pile up. As highly committed students ourselves, we built Ouroboros to support our generation with a discreet, always-ready memory companion that helps prevent those frustrating memory lapses without interruption.
What it does
At the press of a button, Ouroboros automatically transcribes everything said in the previous 60 seconds using AI and stores them as “moments” in a single app that you can review. This allows you to have a record of an event after the fact, providing a continuous memory replay system.
How we built it
Ouroboros underwent multiple design iterations to balance user needs and functionality. Starting with rough sketches exploring shapes, buttons, and features, early designs focused on simplicity, while later versions became sleeker and more user-centered based on survey feedback. Notably, 21% of respondents valued customizable wearability, leading us to add a sliding mechanism for interchangeable accessories. To accommodate Boros's sleek design, we utilized miniature hardware components, including the Pico 2 W, MEMS microphone, mini lithium-ion polymer battery, and micro lipo-USB charger. We then soldered elements together to fit seamlessly into their 3D-printed pendant.
