Inspiration

We wanted to demystify the process of purchasing a new home and help make it accessible to more people.

What it does

The website collects information about the potential homebuyer (such as their credit score, monthly payments, income, etc.) and the house they want to buy (such as its appraised value, the estimated monthly mortgage payment, etc.) and determines if they are ready to buy that house yet. If it is determined that they aren't ready, the website explains why and provides suggestions for steps they could take to improve their odds of being able to buy that home.

How we built it

We built it using HTML, CSS, and Javascript, and used Git for version control.

Challenges we ran into

For some members, it was their first time building a website from scratch, so the team ran into some initial difficulties building the project.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

The team was able to create a working website in under 24 hours even though some members had no prior web dev experience, and for some members, it was their first ever hackathon.

What we learned

We learned how to integrate the frontend and backend of a website when building one from scratch.

What's next for Buy or Bye

Visualizing data (i.e., with graphs) to show averages and general trends in data belonging to a large group of potential homeowners.
