Inspiration

We're all interested in cybersecurity; helping to detect fraud was right up our alley. We were interested in competing in a Hackathon to give us some competition environment, and possible real world experience as well.

Purpose/Function

Our project takes input from a primary dataset, and looks for inconsistencies on certain data points. This aims to help you pinpoint which property listings are different from others, and more specifically, those likely to be fraudulent in some manner.

Construction

We used Jupyter Notebook, and received lots of help from the mentors on-site, websites, and Youtube tutorials.

Challenges

We knew, and still don't know much about data science. It was a challenge overall!

Accomplishments

I'm proud we actually managed to come up with some kind of data model that answers the question. There was a point in this project we thought we might not be able to do anything.

Learning

We learned a lot about data science, and how to use python-based learning models with Jupyter and Spyder.

What's next for Osprey Security

We're still interested in competing! However, we'll be going to far less data science events, and more cybersecurity ones in the future.
