Inspiration
I was scrolling through social media one evening when I came across a post that stopped me. A woman had just been harassed by her ride-hailing driver. She shared the driver’s details—his name, license plate, and a chilling description of what happened. What struck me even more was how many people had bookmarked her post. Thousands were reacting, not because it was unusual, but because it was painfully familiar.
And that’s when it hit me: this kind of information can’t live in scattered social posts. It doesn’t scale, and it disappears into the feed in hours.
That’s where Oshun Ride was born. A platform where the community can come together to flag dangerous drivers, where AI helps surface patterns and past reports, and where ride-hailing safety becomes proactive, not reactive. It's not just about one post—it’s about building a trusted layer of intelligence and protection for everyone who steps into a stranger’s car.
What it does
Oshun Ride uses AI agents to scan the web and community-reported databases for past incidents involving ride-hailing drivers. Users upload a screenshot of their driver’s profile, and our AI parses the data, performs a real-time safety lookup, and returns any relevant safety flags, reports, or warnings. The platform empowers riders with information before they get in the car.
How we built it
We built Oshun Ride with the help of Bolt.new. The platform made it easy to rapidly prototype, test ideas, and make changes. We were constantly —exporting out of Bolt to try different workflows, then pulling them back in once we were happy with the flow, design, and AI behaviors. The speed and flexibility made iteration feel natural and creative.
Challenges we ran into
Like any hackathon project, time was short and ambition was high. Aligning UX, AI output quality, and platform stability while working fast was a challenge—but one we enjoyed.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We got something working end to end
What we learned
How to put an app together with minimal effort and using Bolt.new to iterate through ideas very queryly
What's next for Oshun Ride Saftey
We plan to extend Oshun Ride into a full safety network—adding web and SMS-based agents, growing our database of driver reports, and partnering with ride-hailing companies to embed our AI directly into the ride-hailing experience.
