The Night I Realized Ride-Hailing Safety Needed a Rethink
It started like any other evening — me scrolling through social media, half-distracted, half-looking for something interesting. Then I saw a post that made me stop.
A woman had just shared a chilling experience: she had been harassed by her ride-hailing driver. She included the driver’s info and a detailed account of what happened. You could feel the fear and frustration in her words. It wasn’t just a rant — it was a cry for help and a warning to others.
I watched the post explode. Thousands of likes. Hundreds of comments. More than anything… bookmarks. So many people were quietly saving the post — not necessarily engaging publicly, but preparing to protect themselves just in case.
And that’s when it hit me.
This is how we’re handling safety? A viral post? Social media bookmarks? We’re relying on chance — on the hope that someone sees a warning before they get into the wrong car.
That doesn’t scale. That doesn’t protect people in real-time. That’s not good enough.
So I Built Oshun Ride
Oshun Ride was born from that moment — the realization that we need a better way to protect each other.
It’s a community-driven platform for ride-hailing safety. A place where users can report bad actors, flag dangerous drivers, and share their experiences — not into the void, but into a system that uses those signals to warn the next person before something happens.
You take a screenshot of your ride details and our AI agents scan it against community reports, public databases, and past ride histories. If there’s a history of complaints, our system lets you know. If the driver’s clean, you’ll feel reassured. Either way, you’re no longer riding in the dark.
Because Safety Shouldn’t Be a Lucky Scroll
We deserve more than reactive posts. We deserve proactive protection. We deserve a platform built around shared experiences, mutual care, and the technology to scale trust.
Oshun Ride isn’t just an app. It’s a safety net — woven by all of us, for all of us.
