Inspiration
I've been wanting to contribute to woman-founded open source project and work with YAML files. Lo and behold, I found an issue for creating an issue template in a project called Yuri's Coding Club.
What it does
This issue template provides detailed questions for contributors who want to improve the project's documentation.
How I built it
I first observed how other projects create their templates for documentation. I noticed that most of them did not having sections where contributors discuss the benefit of their proposed solution, so I added this section. In doing so, contributors would think deeply about how to present their ideas.
Challenges I ran into
In my terminal, I kept getting errors for using the value description for each textarea. At first, I was going to give each one a different name, but then I remembered that the maintainer wanted that value, so I decided to stick with their request.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
I managed to complete this contribution pretty quickly so I'm proud of myself for doing this. I'm also happy that I fulfilled my Hacktoberfest goal to contribute to projects founded by women.
What we learned
Through this experience, I learned that it's sometimes best to fulfill the maintainer's requirments.
What's next for OS Contribution:
I'm currently creating a footer for Yuri's Coding Club project, so I have a goal to complete it before Hacktoberfest ends.
