π OrphanCare Planner β Project Story
β¨ Inspiration
We were inspired by the struggles of orphanages in accessing food, volunteers, and mentorship.
Many orphanages lack a structured system to request help, so we created a digital platform that ensures resource accessibility while aligning with:
- SDG 1: No Poverty
- SDG 2: Zero Hunger
π‘ What it does
OrphanCare Planner is a web-based platform that:
- Connects orphanage principals with the Rah e Ilahi team.
- Allows event and volunteer requests.
- Tracks upcoming events and assigned volunteers.
- Enables mentor communication inside dashboards.
- Sends automated notifications for updates.
- Facilitates food and resource distribution to orphanages.
- Supports poverty reduction through equal access to resources.
π οΈ How we built it
- Frontend β Responsive dashboards for admins and principals.
- Backend β APIs for events, volunteers, and resource management.
- Database β Designed schemas for orphanages, volunteers, and requests.
- Cloud Prep β Real-time storage and deployment setup.
- Notifications β Automated email updates.
[ \text{System Flow: } { \text{Request} \rightarrow \text{Approval} \rightarrow \text{Assignment} \rightarrow \text{Notification} } ]
π§ Challenges we ran into
- Completing backend connectivity within deadlines.
- Cloud integration for real-time updates.
- Handling scalability from city to country level.
- Managing time constraints with both research and development.
π Accomplishments that we're proud of
- Designing a centralized orphanage management system.
- Aligning the project with global SDGs.
- Building a functional Website.
- Creating a model that can scale nationally.
π What we learned
- Building and deploying cloud-based web apps.
- Importance of user roles in real-world systems.
- Technical lessons in API integration, notifications, and DB design.
- How tech directly supports social welfare causes.
π What's next for OrphanCare Planner
- Enhance food/resource tracking
- Scale city-wide to national level
- Add impact reporting
