Inspiration

When creating our project, we were inspired by the intricate tradition of Halloween. While it seems like such a simple holiday, there is actually a lot of history behind it! We also were excited to research a holiday we participated in as kids!

What it does

Our project aims to inform people about the history of Halloween, which dates back many centuries! We also wanted to show how Halloween is celebrated around the world, not just in the United States.

How we built it

We built this website using vscode, replit, and GitHub. The main languages we used were HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. As a team, we worked together and collaborated on the code and research to efficiently complete the website.

Challenges we ran into

As we are still new to Github, we faced some challenges when hosting our site through Github and just using the interface in general. However, we persevered through these challenges and got our website up and running!

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of the animations on our website because they add an element of interactivity and make the website fun to look at and use!

What we learned

We learned a lot about how to conduct efficient research and how to host websites. This was crucial in completing our project and taught us a lot of vital skills we can use everywhere. Using this knowledge, we hope to compete in future hackathons!

What's next for Origins of Halloween

In the future, we want to add more to our website so that people can post what they're doing for Halloween through a blog. For now, we used limited features to design a simple and sleek website that fits the criteria of the hackathon.
