Inspiration
Building a project similar to Folding@home that allows participants to contribute their compute power to aid in data processing for biomedical research.
What it does
Oricloud uses a script to embed on websites that will run jobs as users visit them.
How we built it
Our project was built using FastAPI, Python, TypeScript, JavaScript, React, WebAssembly.
Challenges we ran into
- Deciphering WebAssembly and its poor documentation
- Using FastAPI and learning how to implement it with no prior experience
- Working with JavaScript
- Handling security in FastAPI
- Finding open-source programs for data processing
What we learned
- The basics of React to create an frontend web app
- How proper organization and leadership can produce efficient results
What's next for Oricloud
Development in Oricloud includes getting people involved in distributed computing and working with researchers to simulate programs such as protein folding dynamics and searching for extra-terrestrial radio signals.
