Inspiration
We found that the current search tool for organizations on campus was very poorly done and difficult to use. (http://ucdavis.orgsync.com/search) We decided to improve upon the design.
What it does
It provides an easy way to find and search for specific clubs on our campus.
How I built it
It was built mainly on HTML, CSS, Javascript.
Challenges I ran into
Scrapping all the data from the current web search tool was a challenge. It took a number of attempts to finally get it right and give us the information we needed.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
Building a website and scraping data without any prior experience.
What I learned
I learned a lot about web development, and that even simple websites such as ours requires a lot of work and thinking.
What's next for OrgSync 2.0
We are hoping to integrate a more social aspect to it. We hope to show how popular clubs are on on campus, how to get involved on those clubs, a lot of information regarding these clubs and even what clubs people you know are interested in.
