Inspiration

Both members of our team are in the same student organization and have realized there are not many good options for attendance management, that are specifically tailored to student organizations, fraternities, or sororities.

What it does

Here is a list of OrgMinder's Features

Event Scheduling OrgMinder allows you to easily schedule events, and makes them easily accessable so that your organization members are always in the know. Creating events is a breeze with our simple system, which allows moderators to create events on the fly with just the click of a button!

Attendance OrgMinder allows you to specify which events are mandatory and which aren't. Members can RSVP for events as well as send excuses for mandatory events. Once an excuse has been submitted they can be reviewed and accepted/denied by a moderator.

Help Your Members Stay In Touch OrgMinder features a directory to store all of your Member's contact information so that members can always get in contact with other members when needed.

How we built it

OrgMinder was built using a Python/Flask/SQLite back-end and HTML5/CSS3/Bootstrap5.0 front-end

Challenges we ran into

Attendance management is complex, there are lots of different states and routes to either "Attending" or "Not Attending". Making sure that we could handle any attendance scenario while maintaining a clean and usable interface was a large challenge.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We feel as if we have created a webapp within the 24 hour time period that can be utilized by our student organization as well as other organizations in the future.

What we learned

Both members of our team learned a lot about SQL queries and have greatly improved our abilities with Flask and Bootstrap.

What's next for OrgMinder

Features we hope to add:

Finance Management We would like to add features such as finance management for fines, dues, and fees.

Instant Messaging Allow Organizations to join groups within their organization and communicate without ever leaving the webapp

Make available to other organizations We are hoping to make our service available to many other student organizations at Texas Tech and beyond.
