Inspiration
As students, we often struggle with organizing and giving adequate time to the tasks that we have to do. By making an app to solve this issue, we aim to take the organizing part out of the equation - allowing the user (especially students, our target audience, though we have extended the app to work towards adult and elderly age groups) to have more time to dedicate towards other activities.
What it does
It asks the user what issue they are facing - what is the obstacle that is stopping them from achieving their goals-and helps them move past that obstacle. The main obstacle that is addressed by the AI is issues with organizing, sorting and creating an action plan on how to move forward.
How we built it
We built it with GitHub and Visual Studio Code. We got assistance from websites like w3schools, and some AI chatbots when we were stuck and unable to create a code/solve an issue.
Challenges we ran into
The primary technical challenge we faced was establishing a stable connection between the frontend and backend using the API key, occasionally exceeding usage and rate limits. We also struggled with keeping a human in the loop - something that we, even in this stage of the app, were unable to completely accomplish.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of all the knowledge we have gained in the process of doing this - we have leveled up our skills in using React, version control. Our resilience throughout the course of the project is another feature that we are proud of having had - without constant morale-boosts and encouragement throughout the team, this project would not have been possible.
What we learned
We learnt to work with the API key - a skill that has proven to be more useful with the increasing prevalence of AI and gained a lot of knowledge regarding VSC and React.
What's next for Panic to Plan
Actively pushing for the human in the loop - rather than letting it be the users option, the AI should automatically push the chat towards a human.
