Inspiration
Organ donation remains a critical and underserved area in healthcare. Every day, thousands wait for a life-saving organ while perfectly viable donations go unregistered or underutilized. Our inspiration came from the gap between willing donors and overwhelmed systems. We wanted to build a bridge—something simple, accessible, and secure—that empowers individuals to become donors and enables medical institutions to act swiftly.
What it does
The Organ Donation Platform is a web-based application that simplifies the process of registering as a donor, accessing transplant information, and managing donor-recipient coordination. It offers:
- A streamlined donor registration system
- Educational resources to raise awareness
- A recipient dashboard for transplant tracking
- A hospital portal for medical staff to manage matches
Notifications and multilingual support for inclusivity
How we built it
We used Bolt.new for the front-end workflows and Lovable for backend logic and data storage. Our approach focused on rapid prototyping and compliance:
- Built responsive UIs for donors, recipients, and hospitals
- Set up secure forms for sensitive data using built-in encryption
- Integrated basic matching logic via no-code conditional logic
- Implemented real-time notifications using SendGrid APIs
Designed a modular system ready for integration with government or hospital databases
Challenges we ran into
Privacy compliance: Ensuring that user data is managed according to GDPR/HIPAA was a top priority and required careful workflow design.
Matching logic: Creating a simple yet reliable matching mechanism with limited clinical input was difficult in a no-code environment.
User trust: Conveying safety and legitimacy without a known brand required us to focus heavily on copywriting and visual trust signals.
Integration limitations: Some hospitals still rely on offline systems, making digital coordination challenging.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Developed a fully functional MVP in under 3 weeks using only no-code tools
- Built an inclusive and accessible multilingual interface
- Successfully onboarded a small network of test users including potential donors and one pilot hospital
- Created clear, educational content that demystifies organ donation for the public
What we learned
No-code tools can deliver secure and scalable healthcare applications when used strategically
- Simplicity in user experience can drive completion rates—our guided registration flow saw over 85% form completion
- Collaboration with medical professionals early on avoids rework and compliance issues later
- Transparency builds trust—users appreciated clear explanations on how their data would be used
What's next for Organ Donation Platform
- Partnering with national health agencies to integrate official donor registries
- Building out automated donor-recipient matching with medical criteria
- Introducing mobile app versions for wider access
- Running regional campaigns to boost signups and spread awareness
- Enhancing analytics for hospitals to optimize transplant logistics
