The Occupational Information Center (OIC) was built to provide job seekers and those looking for career information with a single point to get a variety of information about an occupation. The application uses information from a variety of sources including Occupational Employment Statistics for the wage data and industries of employment data. In addition, the OIC provides information from Oregon's 10 year industry and employment projections; current job opening information from Oregon's job matching system, iMatchSkills; job openings from Help Wanted on Line; licensing and certification information from the various state agencies charged with licensing occupations; educational requirements, and schools and training providers providing instruction related to an occupation from Oregon's IPED database; skills required by the occupation; occupations that may be related to an occuation through transferable skills; and Career Pathway information from Oregon's Career Pathway system. Everything you want to know about an occupation in one simple easy to use application. The OIC is one of the most visited applications on our website www.QualityInfo.org, used by job seekers, workforce development staff, career and guidance professionals, students, and those seeking career information. The user may search by keyword, job description, or use a drill down. The user is given a list of matching occupations to choose from, and then chooses a geography and whether to create a full report, a one page summary report, or a custom report. Oregon requires that job seekers be given labor market information regarding occupations they may be interested in when registering for work in the WorkSource Oregon system. The one page summary report was created specifically for workforce development staff to give to job seekers when helping them seek work.
