Inspiration
We, from Qatar Airways Cargo observe a considerable number of shipments being on hold and not being transferred on time to destinations due to several reasons related to missing compliance information. This inspired us to pick up this challenge as its an industry standard issue.
What it does
Our solution addresses an issue which deals with air cargo security compliance for shipments. Cargo that moves across airports needs to adhere to compliance requirements for respective airports and if in case it doesnt comply to mandatory requirements, same results in delays in cargo delivery or penalties. ORCA addresses this issue by standardizing this information into OneRecord Platform and also helping the GHA/GSA to improve compliance.
How we built it
ORCA is built on Spring Boot, MongoDB using One Record Ne-One Server.
Challenges we ran into
We faced a challenge on deploying One Record Ne-One server in AWS and so we had to deploy it locally and proceed.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
As a team, we picked a problem statement thats currently evident in the Air Cargo industry and also we have come up with a proposal that caters addressing ongoing issues. It also perfectly blends into the One Record integration as an industry standard.
What we learned
During the Hackathon, we have discussed our idea with IATA mentors who appreciated our unique idea and also stated should this be implemented across the network this would definitely increase in the compliance.
What's next for ORCA - One Record Compliance Aerosol
Next Steps for ORCA would be: 1) Measure & Improve Station Compliance 2) Integration with Customs Data Systems.
