Inspiration
I wanted to build something that could do more than just answer questions. We all have tasks to manage, plans to make, and things we sometimes forget. I thought it would be useful to have one assistant that could help bring these things together.
What it does
ORBIT is a personal AI assistant designed to help users organize tasks, plan their day, and turn their plans into actions. Instead of only suggesting what to do, it can use tools to help complete tasks while keeping the user in control.
How we built it
ORBIT combines an AI agent, a web interface, and an MCP server. The agent understands the user's request, creates a plan, and uses available tools to carry out the required actions. The interface lets users review the plan, approve important actions, and see the results.
Challenges
One of the main challenges is making sure the assistant does the right thing instead of simply generating a response. Tool execution, error handling, and user approval are important parts of making it useful and reliable.
What we learned
This project helped us think beyond AI-generated answers and focus on building something practical. A useful AI assistant should not only understand what a user wants but also help them take the next step safely.
what's next?
Next, I want to make ORBIT smarter and more useful in everyday life. I plan to add more tools, improve how it handles multi-step tasks, and connect it with services people already use. I also want to make it more reliable so users can trust it to get things done while staying in control.
