About the Project

01. Introduction

ORBIT is a BYOK-enabled, multi-agent development workspace designed to make AI-assisted software development more flexible and developer-controlled.

Instead of relying on a single AI coding agent, ORBIT allows multiple specialized agents to work on the same development task in parallel, while giving developers the option to bring their own provider credentials.

Three agents. One workspace. Your keys. Your code.

02. Problem Statement

AI coding tools are becoming increasingly capable, but development workflows still tend to revolve around a single model, a single execution path, and platform-controlled AI usage.

This creates several practical limitations:

  • Developers cannot easily combine different models for the same development task.
  • Complex development work can benefit from multiple perspectives, while most interfaces remain sequential.
  • Platform-managed AI credits introduce another layer of dependency.
  • Switching between providers can interrupt the development workflow.

ORBIT approaches this by treating AI models as parallel development agents rather than a single assistant.

03. How I Implemented Track 1

For Track 1: Automated Agent Engineering, I focused on building the core multi-agent development workflow rather than simply connecting multiple model APIs.

The workflow is structured around five stages:

Session → Command + BYOK → Playground → Clone → Review

A developer first creates a development surface, provides a natural-language command, and optionally connects their own model credentials. ORBIT then distributes the task across three agents that operate in parallel.

The Playground provides visibility into each agent's role, execution state, generated files, and resulting project structure. The final output can then be reviewed and cloned as a project.

The orchestration layer is kept separate from individual model providers, allowing additional models to be introduced without redesigning the overall workflow.

04. Multi-Agent Architecture

ORBIT currently uses three complementary agents:

Agent Model Focus
Agent 01 Gemini 3.7 Flash Architecture & application structure
Agent 02 Mistral Task implementation & development logic
Agent 03 Cerebras / Qwen3 235B Instruct Integration, refinement & implementation

The objective is not simply to have three models generate the same code.

Each agent approaches a different part of the development problem, allowing the workspace to combine multiple perspectives into one project.

05. BYOK Architecture

A central part of ORBIT is Bring Your Own Key.

Developers can provide their own API credentials for supported providers instead of depending on an ORBIT-managed AI-credit system.

The key remains within the user's active session and is used for the corresponding provider interaction. ORBIT does not need to become the owner of the developer's model usage.

This creates a simpler relationship:

Developer → Provider → ORBIT orchestration

rather than:

Developer → ORBIT credits → Provider

The goal is greater flexibility and reduced platform lock-in.

06. Product Demonstration

ORBIT includes a deterministic Product Demo that demonstrates the complete workflow without requiring API credentials.

The demo uses three simulated agents that reproduce the same development lifecycle:

QUEUED → PLANNING → EXECUTING → WRITING FILES → COMPLETED

It generates a predefined project and demonstrates the Playground, Clone, and Review stages.

The demonstration is completely isolated from real execution and does not consume either of ORBIT's two real development sessions.

This allows the core product experience to be demonstrated immediately while keeping the real execution environment separate.

07. What Makes ORBIT Different

ORBIT is not intended to be another AI code generator.

Its focus is the development environment around AI agents:

  • Multiple agents instead of one
  • Parallel execution instead of purely sequential interaction
  • BYOK instead of mandatory platform-managed credits
  • Provider flexibility instead of model lock-in
  • Visible agent execution instead of hidden generation
  • A complete workflow from command to project output

The underlying idea is simple:

AI should work around the developer's workflow, not force the developer into the AI provider's workflow.

08. Future Direction

The current implementation establishes the foundation for a broader agentic development workspace.

Future iterations can introduce stronger inter-agent coordination, persistent project context, richer code review, additional model providers, Dodo Payments integration for handling monetization and subscriptions, an Orbit Clone workflow for exporting and continuing projects outside ORBIT, and a Default Agent Service for developers who prefer an ORBIT-managed experience.

For now, the focus is on proving the core interaction:

GIVE ORBIT A TASK. LET MULTIPLE AGENTS WORK. KEEP CONTROL OF THE CODE AND THE MODELS.
