Inspiration
Students memorize formulas but never see them. I watched friends struggle with projectile motion and integration because YouTube is passive. We needed an OS where you LEARN, VISUALIZE, and MASTER — not just watch.
What it does
STEMVerse AI is an AI-powered STEM Learning OS for Math, Physics, Chemistry:
- Interactive Visualizer: Drag sliders for angle/velocity → see projectile motion update live
- AI Tutor: Step-by-step guidance, not direct answers
- Mistake DNA: Auto-tags errors as Conceptual / Formula / Sign errors
- Gamified Dashboard: XP (1,840), 14-day streak, 74% mastery, Gap Radar
- Teacher View: See class-wide weak prerequisites instantly
Live: https://stemverse-ai.vercel.app
How we built it
- Frontend: React + Vite + Tailwind CSS (dark neon UI)
- State: React hooks for real-time visualizer
- Deployment: Vercel (CI/CD from GitHub)
- Design: Custom components for XP, streak, mastery charts
- Architecture: Modular — Home, Visualizer, AI Tutor, Quiz, Teacher pages
Challenges we ran into
- Making visualizer smooth at 60fps while updating physics equations
- Designing Mistake DNA taxonomy that actually helps teachers
- Building a full OS UI in 48 hours with consistent dark theme
- Vercel deployment config for Vite (fixed with correct build settings)
Accomplishments we're proud of
- Fully working interactive visualizer (not a mockup)
- Complete gamification loop with XP and streaks
- Deployed live link that judges can use instantly
- Clean, professional UI that feels like a real product
What we learned
- React performance optimization for real-time canvas
- How to turn pedagogy (active recall) into product features
- Vercel + GitHub workflows for hackathon speed
What's next
- Add real AI backend (OpenAI for tutor)
- More visualizers: vectors, calculus, electrochemistry
- Multiplayer study rooms and leaderboards
- Mobile app version
Built With
- css3
- html5
- javascript
- react
- tailwind-css
- vercel
